National Lung Cancer Screening Day is November 8th!
Between 50-80 years of age
Have 20 pack-year history of smoking (this means 1 pack a day for 20 years, 2 packs a day for 10 years, etc.)
AND, is a current smoker, or has quit within the last 15 years
The scan will only take a few minutes. A lung cancer screening is less invasive than other cancer screenings and does not require unique preparation. You'll lie on a table and slide into a machine that looks like a giant donut. You won't feel anything, and it doesn't hurt. The entire appointment typically lasts around 30 minutes, while the scan itself takes approximately two minutes. After the scan, you can return to normal activities, and a doctor will review the images.

A pack year is calculated as # of packs smoked per day multiplied by # of years smoking. For example: 1 pack per day X 20 years = 20 pack years
